*Brooke and I had a little girl fun after the show

Metallics are such a huge trend right now but can be a little tricky to pull off! Here are some of my favorite tips on how to do this trend

Mastering Metallics
Go For Gold

Metallics paired with collared shirts are happy and fun! It's the best way to make this look sophisticated. Gold Flecked Sweater, H&M, $34.95
Bold Is Beautiful
If this trend doesn't scare you then GO BOLD. If you own it everyone will love it! Leopard Print Dress, Macys, $65.40

What's your fashion sense?

Today on Studio 5 I talked fashion and hit the streets of The Gateway to see your fashion style.
It was such a fun happy day and I met such darling people!
(click on blog if to view video from reader)

There are so many different trends and style options out there that it can be hard to know where you fit in, or if you can pull off a certain look. Use these tips to find your true fashion style.

Be individual

To be in fashion is following all the trends: shape, color, accessories, etc. But to be in style you need to be yourself and be creative. Just make sure you are adding your own flair to any outfit. No matter what style you belong to, just make it your own.

Own it

Don't wear it because it's "in," wear it because it's you. A confident woman will always be (and look) in style. You need to be confident and comfortable as the person you are. As Audrey Hepburn said, "happy girls are the prettiest."

Find inspiration

There are so many great resources to find style you love. Pull pages out of your favorite magazines, or follow a celebrities cue. Pinterest is also a great new website where you can find and save all sorts of great style photos.

Friday Night Stripes . . . .

You know when you haven't talked to a friend a awhile and the longer you go with out talking the harder it is to call? Well . . . thats how I feel about this blog. The more behind I got the more pressure I had about blogging. Make sense?
For now Im back :)
Life got crazy
I have been speaking, taking photos, making a pilot for a reality show, planning and having birthdays,  going to Florida, selling my house! AND the most important being a wife and a mom to my 3 darling kids.
So with my crazy life I MUST spend extra time with my sweet children and not blogging.
You agree,  right?
Things are back to "normal" crazy and I Love blogging so I now have time to do it at night when my kids are sleeping.
Bottom line. They get me time first. So sorry for the absence.
*********

Now on to Friday night stripes!
Here is a sneak peak into my home FULL of stripes.

Nail trends

Here is my write up on Shellac nails from the studio 5 page

"Say goodbye to long acrylic French tip nails. Today the trend is polish…short, clean, and colorful. We can always look to celebrities for all the latest trends, and right now they are all on trend with short, beautifully polished nails!
Shellac is a new nail product that makes manicures last two to three weeks, with no chipping! Shellac is a polish hybrid that's applied like a polish but stays on like a gel, and most nail salons offer this new method. They will polish your nails first, and then set it under a UV lamp for a few minutes. That's all it takes, and there is zero dry time. To remove or redo the salon will soak the nails with solution for about 10 minutes, and the color wipes right off. This means no filing or drilling so your nails can stay strong!
Another way to achieve a long lasting manicure is with acrylic. Salons apply acrylic just over your natural nail and keep it short with no tip. After that, apply polish and your color will last for weeks while still looking like your natural nail. The polish sticks to the acrylic and lasts much longer, so all you need to worry about is the grow-out."

Seriously Im going to buy me a lamp right now! As of now I have just a overlay of acrylic on my nails and LOVE it. I keep them very short so they look like my natural nail but my polish stays on forever! You must try it!

I had so much fun with this segment. There are such fun things out there!

Essie at Wal-Mart!

I did a happy dance . . .

It all started during that wonderful midnight trip to wal-mart. I just needed to grab a nail file. When I rounded the corner I found a huge Essie display! Really I was so dang excited. And couldn't believe it. Then I ran home and read up online all about it. I needed to know it was the real deal.  It is!

 So apparently
L'Oreal purchased Essie and wanted to broaden the distribution of Essie polish. There are a few difference in the packaging with the retail line vs the salon line. Mostly the retail line had extra tacky stickers and bar codes attached.

K go grab some. You will Love it!

PLUS did you hear that last part of the video?! You better come out next friday so I can ambush you!
More on that later :)

Color Melting

Friday I talked about color melting on Studio 5. It has been such a rage in Hollywood and its just now peaking in Utah. Why do you think the trend hasn't hit very hard here? Would you do it?
I have really Loved my hair melted. Its been melted for about 6 months and I just barley got sick of it this month. I think its because I want to pretend its spring :)
If you decided to go for it you have to go to Brandi, she has got it down to a art!
(click on blog to view video)

Here is my article from studio 5's page
Ombre hair, or coloring melting, has been all the rage in Hollywood this last year and is now making its mark here in Utah! Color melting is basically a graduation of color from dark to light, or light to dark.Ombre (the official term) means "shaded," in French. That says it all - shading is exactly what this trend is all about.
This trend is perfect for that low-maintenance gal! In theory, the more my hair grew out, the better it looked - who doesn't love that?! I do think it's important to keep the colors rich and warm - remember, we are going for that beautiful "beachy" glow, not the "yes-I-did-just-grow-out-my-hair" look. The other great thing about this look is you can go as subtle or strong as you would like! Do what's comfortable for you and have fun looking like a celebrity!

Laci looked to stylist Brandi Holdaway, of Salon O, for her color melted look:

Salon O
815 East 400 South
Salt Lake City, UT 84102
(801) 746-1010

P.S a piece of my clothing that day was a found from the kids department in walmarts clearance for $5! I needed something to wear and ran to walmart the night before the segment at midnight. I found so much great stuff so this weeks posts may just be all about my great walmart finds :)
I was going to have you guess what . . .  but I don't think I want you to guess what part of my outfit looks cheap ;)

Are you melting??

Today on Studio 5 Im talking about ombre hair. What are your thoughts?? I have learned people love it or hate it. It has been all the rage in hollywood. Tune in today and lets talk :)

Honeysuckle Pink!

The time is here! Pantone released the color of 2011: Honeysuckle Pink. The Pantone Color Institute sets the color trends each year and we will now be seeing Honeysuckle Pink in a big way, specifically in fashion and home decor. The executive director of the Pantone Color Institute says that "Honeysuckle is about energizing us. In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going, perfect to ward off the blues."
Pink can easily overwhelm a look, so I would pair this color with neutrals or hints of green. A bright pink lip is really popular right now; just make sure the rest of your look is soft. The good news is this shade of pink looks great on most skin tones. A lot of designers have incorporated this as part of their spring line, so keep your eyes open for pops of honeysuckle appearing everywhere!
